During a long-term lock, you may need to temporarily access your key for hygiene, play, or other reasons. The break feature allows you to do this while keeping your session intact.
Taking a break
Access the break menu
On your locked Chastity Lockbox, navigate to the lock menu and scroll down to Take a Break.
Begin your break
Review the break information displayed, then press the button to begin your break. The device will unlock, allowing you to remove your key.
Complete your break
You have until the timer expires to return the key and end your break. The break duration is set by your keyholder (or yourself if self-locking).
Activity log timing: Break Started and Break Completed in the session activity log are recorded when the dashboard receives those events. If the Lockbox was offline, rebooted, or slept during a break, Break Completed can appear much later than when you physically re‑locked—often not a failed break. A failed break is tied to missing the break timer while your key is out (see warnings above), not to a delayed log timestamp by itself.
Reboots and setup screens during a break: If the device restarts mid‑break (for example after power loss or a restart), you may briefly see the WiFi QR setup flow or the main menu before the device reconnects. After WiFi sync, the Lockbox may try to re‑engage the lock automatically. With the backplate open, you may see that re‑lock attempt or No Backplate Detected sooner than when you finish normally—close the backplate when you are done, then use End Break so the device and dashboard stay aligned. Ensure the backplate is seated; if errors persist, follow on‑screen options (for example Calibrate or Restart)—see Device errors and Menu structure. When End Break is visible, use it to align the device state with your session.

If you’re in a long-term lock, there’s a strong chance that at some point you’re going to want to take a break—whether that’s for hygiene, for play, or any reason at all. You can do that on the device, and I’ll walk you through it now.A quick note: it is a requirement that your keyholder (or if you’re self-locking, you) has enabled breaks on your active session. I won’t show you that in this video—right now I’m going to assume that breaks are enabled, and I’ll show you how to initiate a break on your device.First, I’ll take my locked Chastity Lockbox and go into the lock menu, then scroll down to “Take a Break.” If breaks are not enabled, you will not see this option on the menu.I’m going to click it, and I’ll see a brief documentation link and a little bit of information about what breaks are going to do. If I begin my break by pressing this button, then my device will unlock and I can extract my key.The break duration is set by your keyholder (or by yourself if self-locking), and you have until this timer runs out to return the key into the box and press the lock button. If you miss this timer—for instance, if your key is out and the timer goes from the current time (I have 14 minutes left) down to zero—then your keyholder will be notified and a permanent failure will be on your account. This won’t be a problem if you’re running a test lock, and you can read more about test locks in future documentation. For now, I don’t want to fail this break, so we’re going to assume that I finished whatever I needed to do inside of my break window—my 15 minutes—and I’ve placed my key back in. Close the backplate and I’m going to hit “End Break” on the right. This will lock the device and send a confirmation to the dashboard that your device has been locked and your break has ended. That’s everything you need to know.
